CARMEN MARISCAL

Carmen Mariscal is an economist with graduate studies in Public Policy and Economics (ITAM, Mexico City, 1993). She began her career in academia at institutions such as the Universidad Panamericana, the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México, and the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (1991–2004), where she specialized in complex systems, strategic thinking, industrial organization, public policy, network economics, and organizational theory.

From the early stages of her career, her work was distinguished by its integration of analytical rigor with a systemic perspective on organizational and social phenomena. In 1998, she became part of the founding team of Tooriginal Solutions, a pioneering company in the design of solutions based on complex systems and the deliberate generation of Positive Network Externalities (PNE), whose impact was recognized with Mexico’s National Technology Award in 2017.

In 2010, she founded Arkesoul, a firm dedicated to guiding deep transformation processes within organizations and communities seeking to evolve organically, sustainably, and efficiently. Fernando Villalovs later joined as a partner, contributing to the strategic development and conceptual expansion of the model.

Through Arkesoul, Carmen developed the Arkesoul Efficiency Model© and the Epistemology of Integration©, conceptual frameworks that bring together strategy, structure, culture, and decision-making through a systemic understanding of human and organizational dynamics. She is also the author of The Language of the Ineffable: The Infinite Names of the Human, a work that explores the many ways in which cultural, philosophical, and spiritual traditions have sought to name and understand human experience, meaning, consciousness, and the mystery of existence. Her writing represents a natural extension of her ongoing pursuit to integrate diverse perspectives into broader and more coherent frameworks of understanding.

Throughout Arkesoul’s history, her work has spanned a wide range of contexts: from public policy initiatives and foundations to the design of initial conditions for entrepreneurial ventures and startups; from large corporations to family-owned businesses; from expert teams seeking to unlock innovation through their own know-how to professionals in their first work experience. This breadth of experience has shaped a profound understanding of organizations as living systems oriented toward value creation, genuine efficiency, and community building.

The constant thread throughout her work is a clear conviction: organizational evolution does not occur through imposition, but through structural clarity, epistemological integration, and shared meaning. Guided by this principle, Carmen Mariscal has dedicated her career to designing environments in which people, systems, and purposes can align to generate sustainable impact.

FERNANDO J. VILLALOVS

I design organizational systems that align strategy, operations, and people into scalable structures. Through my work with Arkesoul, I help organizations translate strategic intent into clear operating models, governance systems, performance frameworks, and decision architectures that reduce dependency on improvisation and enable sustainable growth.

Over the years, I have advised companies, startups, family businesses, and mission-driven organizations across a range of industries, working at the intersection of Analytics, Operations, Project Management, Human Resources, and Organizational Development. My work focuses less on day-to-day execution and more on designing the systems that make effective execution possible: KPI and OKR architectures, role and accountability structures, governance models, cross-functional coordination mechanisms, capacity planning, and organizational processes that improve clarity, measurability, and institutional resilience.

In addition to my consulting work, I served as editor of The Language of the Ineffable: The Infinite Names of the Human by Carmen Mariscal, collaborating in the development and refinement of a multidisciplinary exploration of human experience, consciousness, meaning, and the diverse philosophical and cultural traditions through which humanity has sought to understand itself. This editorial work reflects my broader interest in the integration of philosophy, systems thinking, and human development.

My academic background in Philosophy and Psychology informs a systems-oriented approach to organizational design, analytical reasoning, and human behavior. Across all my work, I am guided by a simple principle: most organizational problems are not people problems—they are design problems.
